Scavenger Hunt

November 11, 2008

This is our backyard.

This our neighbor’s backyard.

Our yard seems so boring in comparison.

Our neighbors recently positioned their inflatable turkey to satisfy the needs of an area youth group.  Apparently the students were competing in a photo scavenger hunt.  I’m not sure how many points the turkey was worth – but I thought it was pretty funny to watch them scurry about and jockey for a quick photo with the giant, glow in the dark bird.  Have you ever participated in a scavenger hunt?  What was the craziest thing you had to located?

A friend of mine had a scavenger hunt every year for his birthday. His mother would come up with such wild things for us to get or have our picture made with. The one that stands out the most in my mind is a green platic clothes pin. I think that the winning team went to Walmart and bought a bag of clothes pins just to get a green one.

Have you heard about the GPS scavenger hunts that are online now? Harley did one not too long ago. Very cool!

Erin and Sara’s birthday a few years ago happened to fall the same day as their youth group scavenger hunt. The youth pastor and I cooked up the idea for one of the clue’s to be go to a local ice cream shop and take a picture with the birthday cake for a youth group member. They never caught on until they were standing there taking the picture. I took the cake to the church later for the whole group. pretty cool.
